We know we had a lot of questions about this missions things, so we thought you might have some too. So, without further ado, here are some FAQs!

Wait…what are you doing?

We’re urban missionaries in San Francisco and serve on staff with YWAM SF. Megan is an administrative assistant to the base directors and Shane is working with the Communications department. We also do “regular” missionary stuff like evangelism and outreach. Read more about our ministry here.

For how long?

We’re committing to at least two years with YWAM SF.

Are you getting paid to do this?

Nope. That’s why we need partners who believe in the mission to financially support this next season of our lives.

It’s kind of like working at a church, where you get paid out of tithes — out of giving. In our case, there’s no church to facilitate the payment. The money goes right from the giver to the mission. (YWAM is made up of people from many churches who’ve joined together to know God and make Him known through serving Jesus across the globe.)

Why do you need money?

Because we’re not getting paid. We still need stuff like food, shelter, health insurance and everything else it takes to live in one of the most expensive cities in the United States. (Hey, it wasn’t our choice. God asked us to go to San Francisco!)

Why don’t you get a real job?

We did! When God first asked us to go to SF, we went right ahead and did it in our own strength, and that involved lining up jobs in the city. But then He was like, “Uh, no, go this way.”

We know God is faithful and will provide for what He’s asked us to do.

And being a missionary is a real job!
